One syllable, moving sound
In ai, ei, ao and ou, the mouth moves through the final without making two separate syllables. Hear lái, fēi, lǎo and tóu.
Start with four moving finals
First practise ai, ei, ao and ou using the focus cards. Keep each final inside one syllable. The optional reference adds iao in xiǎo, ua in huā and uo in guǒ; you can return to it later.
Short spellings
After an initial, iou is written iu and uei is written ui: hear liù and shuǐ. Learn the written form together with the sound, not by reading every letter separately.
Syllables and words use the original course voice. Separate recordings are used only for simple, compound and nasal finals in the sound reference. For words, focus on the sound named on the card.
Record the two examples marked Practice 1 and Practice 2. Use the other examples whenever you want extra practice.
